Absolute destruction and devastation. Shades of Duran-Leonard II when Sugar Ray made RD say 'no mas'

Hard to believe Rigondeaux hurt his hand when he barely landed any shots. Fighters hurt their hands all the time and fight through it.

You could make the case that he was at a disadvantage having to move up 2 weight classes to fight Lomachenko, and that he is older (listed at 37 but it's rumored he's older, Cuban record keeping not exactly being known for accuracy) -- but that wouldn't excuse his total ineptitude at being outfought by a superior opponent who had tasted defeat and learned from it.

Rigo had no idea of how good a guy he was fighting...closest he had come was his defeat of Donaire, but the run-jab-grab game worked on him because he had never fought such a skilled boxer. Lomachenko's last 4-5 fights were against competitive opponents, and he put a clown suit on Nicholas Walters, who had mowed down all his opposition prior to that fight.

Crucify me if you want but this is what it might've looked like had Pacquiao and Mayweather fought in their prime. The speed, power punching and unorthodox movement between them is comparable.

Was also impressed with the Stevenson kid. Not much will stand in his way of a title in or around featherweight...unless he fights Lomachenko.

Bonus points if you saw the hysterical back and forth between Stephen A. Smith and Teddy Atlas. The facial contortions of SAS were screams. I know some people hate him but I don't -- it's his job to give a hot take and be your huckleberry.

Yeah your post sounded good until you brought up the ridiculous What if.... Pacquio was never beating Floyd... He isn't even the best fighter he faced...

As for this fight... it was a mismatch... most didn't even realize it because they fell for the hype but Rigo coming up 2 classes and his age was a clear sign.  No I do not believe he injured his hand more like his machismo.... No point in doing further brain damage or end up on a stretcher.

Don't kid yourself my friend...Floyd knew f'in damn well that Pacquiao was perhaps the only fighter who in his prime could have caught and beat him. Even the announcers Saturday made reference to the fact that he did a disservice to the sport by being more interested in protecting his 0 than fighting the best.

Remember how close the De La Hoya fight was? Pacquiao would've won more than half that fight with his seek and destroy mentality...granted, he was very likely doing something drug or blood-wise he shouldn't have been doing, but among the fighters who came close to beating him (DLH, Castillo) none of them were at the level of MP in his prime. NONE.

We'll all just be left to wonder but IMO the only thing speed is good for is truckers who want to stay up all night.

I didn't see the fight as a mismatch since most boxers fight a few pounds above weight anyway on fight night. Rigo wasn't getting hit with grenades so much as scalpels. He tried ducking down but got popped with uppercuts in the face for his trouble. And the ref would've probably kept taking away points had the fight continued. Just paid the price for stepping in the ring with a defense-first minimalist style, against a guy with elite skills in pretty much every area. Don't think he would've taken a plethora of brain-bending hits had the fight continued.

Rigo won't find it easy going even if he stays at his natural weight class. There are a bunch of talented and undefeated guys within 7 lbs. of him. I'd love to see him fight Sor Rungvisai just because both of them are dirty AF, or if Inoue will come up to challenge him. Any guy whose nickname is 'The Monster' is in my cool book.

We ain't never gonna agree on Floyd, but make no mistake, he likely had more detractors than supporters. And for very very quantifiable reasons.

I don't want to turn every boxing thread into a retired memoir on Floyd... but most who hated Floyd was more about who he was as a person than as a boxer hence his detractors... I am glad he is gone as I don't even consider the CM fight to be a legit boxing match... Can't wait for Thurman Spence and while I will root for the home town kid I think Spence will have his number.

Thurman-Spence? Toss up there. Would've thought Thurman could've beat him via decision but he's had a pretty long layoff after surgery. He's a more complete, more experienced fighter than Spence but that kid is lightning. I expect Spence to get Peterson out of there quickly next month.

Welterweight is a bit of a bore now that Floyd is gone(?) and Pacquiao is busy being an elected official. For what it's worth I think if Crawford moves to welter he will lay waste to everyone, including the aforementioned two fighters.

I don't hate FM because he's ostentatious -- I couldn't stand that defense-first mentality that made his fights largely cures for insomnia. If I want to see a combat sport where someone waits for the other guy to make a mistake or tire out, I'll watch judo.

The fact that he's showy just means he'll eventually go broke like every other athlete in every other sport who lived beyond their means. And he might have plenty of dough now, but once you have the IRS on your a*s they don't tend to go away...especially if you fight with them.

I am going to refrain from anymore Mayweather talks unless he signs up to fight a legit boxing title holder... This is the last you hear about him from me on the boxing thread capish.

This I seriously doubt. Pac will fight Horn again if he wins tomorrow night (or Thursday morning/whatever it is in Australia). Then that'll be it unless Mayweather goes broke and has to take a rematch when he's like 50.

Praise be for this.

I doubt he'll fight any of the present title holders bc there's no money in it like there was for McGregor. Unless GGG or Canelo will fight at a catch weight.

Conor needs to stick to UFC. There are some legit dudes out there who could give him a test. Unless he hires real trainers boxing ain't gonna be his money maker.

The Horn-Corcoran fight is live on ESPN tomorrow...at 6:30 a.m., from Australia. If you care.

Think I'll DVR it. I can only imagine the commercials that will be on at that hour.

I thought the fights live at 3 p.m. on Saturdays from England were annoying but this takes the taco.

And while we're at it, do any of you folks get up early to watch soccer live on Saturdays? If so, you cry at Bambi and admire Stalin...go back to Russia, wimps.
